Why the Name?

As you can tell from my bio, Steadfast Kitchen has been years in the making.

Over the few years prior to starting up, I kept thinking how I wanted to provide nutrition services to serve as an anchor in the loud, fad-based, ever changing health and wellness landscape. I told those around me I wanted my nutrition services to have a name that described something steadfast, trusty, and reliable.

Well, it turns out… if you want the name to mean steadfast… you might as well just call it steadfast.

And thus Steadfast Kitchen was born.

Hi, I’m Bailey.

Steadfast kitchen is my gathering place for trusted, unwavering, culinary-inspired nutrition education. It has been years in the making throughout my career working as both a chef and registered dietitian. Here is a little more about me:

I have been cooking ever since I had an easy bake oven. As a child I studied The Joy of Cooking cookbook to learn the art of cooking, refused to follow recipes when baking as I wanted to figure it out for myself, and consistently dreamed of running my own cafe.

My love for cooking took on a new direction when my beloved grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. One of the resources she was given during her treatment was a smoothie guide full of recipes aimed at mitigating various side effects of chemotherapy. Until this point I had never considered that the art of cooking heavily overlapped with health science. Thus my early career interest was formed and continued to strengthen throughout high school and college.

I became a Registered Dietitian in 2020 after completing my education and internship at The Ohio State University. During this time I was able to work alongside a group of chefs, dietitians, and a hybrid chef-dietitian and provide health-focused cooking demonstrations for the first time. I experienced first hand how powerful it is for nutrition to be taught directly from the kitchen, and knew this was the role I would eventually take on, after just a few more years of continued experience.

In my early career as a dietitian I worked in food media, outpatient nutrition counseling, and in corporate wellness. In each setting I was able to develop recipes, write cooking-inspired blogs, and counsel from a culinary-focused lens. Furthermore, I was able to hear first hand what clients were struggling with, what they wanted to learn, and what type of resources and education actually helped. I knew the next step was completing culinary school to round out my own culinary toolkit to fully supply my clients with the best possible culinary-nutrition experience.

In 2022 I completed my diploma of culinary arts at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, CO. After a few more years of client counseling and teaching in-person and virtual cooking classes to youth and adults of all ages, I knew it was time to open Steadfast Kitchen.

And that’s the story!

Thank you so much for reading, I am glad you are here.
